Mayfair’s gentle introduction to preschool gives parents the chance to see the world of learning through the eyes of a toddler. Parents participate with their children in a variety of teacher led, developmentally appropriate activities, including: stories, rhymes, songs, and motion activities. Free choice playtime, creative dramatics, a craft project, and a group snack round out this unique one-on-one experience. The class is structured similarly to our Three’s and Four’s classes, and provides a wonderful stepping stone into the wide world of preschool!
Does it have to be a parent that stays for the class? No. Any adult over the age of 18 can participate as the child’s adult partner. Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, and Nannies are all welcome to attend in place of the parent or guardian.
What if I have older or younger siblings? Mayfair offers a low cost onsite sibling nursery for older or younger children. If your child is not yet mobile, you may bring them with you in the parent tot program in a wrap or a baby carrier.
Does the child have to be potty trained? No. The classroom has a small bathroom attached, and there is a changing station in the woman’s bathroom in the hall for those who are still in diapers.
Who provides the snack? The snack is provided by our parents on a voluntary rotating basis.
What if my child has allergies? The school is completely nut free, and each classroom will have a list of additional allergies posted in the snack area. Parents are asked to bring a group snack which meets the allergy guidelines for each individual class. Parents who are uncomfortable with a group snack are welcome to bring an individual snack for their child.
What is the age cut off for the PT class? Children must be 2 years old by November 1st to enroll in the Parent Tot class.
Can I come in to observe a class? Absolutely! Mayfair offers free in class observation/participation days for you and your child from September through early May. During the summer we offer onsite tours and multiple meet the teacher events. Contact the school and ask to speak to the membership chair to set up a tour/observation day.
How are payments broken down? You may choose to pay one payment for the full year or pay by semesters. The first semester starts in September and the second semester starts in January. Payments are due the first day of each semester.
If you have additional questions, please contact the school at (248) 626-2759 and ask to speak to the membership chair.
“Mayfair’s Parent Tot class was the perfect way to test drive a preschool! It gave me a firsthand look at what preschool at Mayfair is all about, and it was everything I hoped it would be! My daughter enjoyed all the exciting activities, and I enjoyed meeting other parents and getting to know the teacher in a deeper, more meaningful way. When it came time to choose a preschool for my 3 year old the following year, there was no question where I wanted her to be. Mayfair all the way!” -Elsa’s Mom
“What a wonderful first preschool experience! All the fun and educational aspects without the stress and tears over separation anxiety. I’m so glad we found Mayfair!” -Katie’s Mom
“My son’s teacher was loving and supportive, and even thought I was in class with him every week, she gently encouraged his independence and self-confidence. I couldn’t imagine a better introduction to school for a little guy.” – Joe’s Mom
